Connected to D-Link DIR-655 router: no setup necessary, only connect to power and antenna. Works immediately. Why do people talk so much to tech support about this product I do not know. In the 655 there are three antennas. Connecting this to side antenna does not help. To middle antenna it does help. The device has three levels100, 200 and 500. In my experience, 100 and 200 did not make any difference. 500 did make a noticeable difference. In this output level it is supposed to fry your brain(?). I will not be using this in the room where I work, I can put it on another router.

Very interesting to see how many people aren having much success with these antennas. I would be interested in how everyone is measuring their signal strength and their placement of the routers. I in an older house where it is long and narrow with hardly any open spaces. I using these antennas on a WRT54G on one side of the house, in conjunction with the WRE54G repeater on the other side of the building. I used Netstumbler, and the Dell wireless utility that came with the internal wireless card. I get the same readings for signal strength on both programs. Before adding the antennas, I was getting an average of -50 to -55 dBi strength 10 feet from the router. After adding the antennas, I am averaging -36 to -39 dBi. Sitting 15 feet from the WRE54G repeater the signal gained exactly the same from -50 to -36 dBi after adding the antennas to the router for some reason. The worse strength I received in my house jumped from -92 dBi to -67 dBi.

Very easy install. When configuring EnGenius device you have the option of: Access Point, Client Bridge, WDS Bridge or Repeater. I configured the device as a Access Point. Recieved message “Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you on to the network ….”. To resolve this issue do the following on your computer: 1. right-click Wireless Network Connection icon 2. click “View Available Wireless Networks” 3. highlight 4. under “Related Tasks”, click “Change Advanced Settings” 5. click “Wireless Network” 6. under “Preferred networks”, click 7. click “Properties” 8. click “Authentication” tab 9. uncheck “Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network” Also, log into EnGenius device and verify “IEEE 802.1x” is unchecked: select “Security”, then click “Wireless”.

Had this one for couple months in our office and it works great. feature rich, but for most part leave it on defaults. ALso you will notice from reading on blogs that there is a very similar model in EU, but do not use that firmware. we were playing around with that and we completely toasted the router. Zyxel just released a new driver so when you get this router head there and download it.

Firstly, this is a WAP, not a router. Secondly, for a cheap WAP, this works quite well. It is nice to finally have a WAP that can work with 802.11a/b/g all at once, and well I might add. For day-to-day use, I have one of these working as a repeater and it has not yet to fail me since I purchased the product months ago. As with all such devices, I dislike the web interface, but it is useful (it is indeed stupid to believe the web interface will look good in the near future). I was able to configure this device quickly and effortlessly. Good purchase!

We have never gotten this thing to work the way it should. We followed all directions possible, the printer would make noises, but for some reason the connection kept timing out before any document would print. We tried it with Windows and Mac operating systems, but neither worked. Finally, we put all computers on the same wireless workgroup/network and connected the printer to one fixed computer to print. This has been working great! I hate having to have a desktop on when I not using it, but I can print from anywhere in my house now. Thus, this product was a complete waste of money.

No offense, but the other reviewers are splitting hairs. I have used Cisco 2900, 3000, 4500 and 6500 series switches. These suckers have many features that $2500 units don: Ability to test lines remotely on a per-port basis, advanced diagnostics, etc. They work fine when fed by higher-end cisco equipment, work well with Kiwi syslog servers. Only negative I can find is that they don have command line interface, but what do you want for “same-as-cisco for 1/5 the price?”
